Hot n' Dusty & 8 others Nominated to GI Vanity

Hot n’ Dusty, LRF’s iron mare, has been nominated to the G1 Vanity Handicap at Hollywood Park on June 27, 2009.

As one would expect from a G1, the rode to the winners’ circle won’t be easy. Also nominated is 2008 older female champion, the undefeated Zanyatta and Marty & Pam Wygod’s Life is Sweet.

“We are honored to be on the same nomination sheet as these two fantastic horses,” said LRF Managing Partner Billy Koch. “We are very realistic about our chances.”

It has been reported that Life is Sweet may opt out of the race and point towards the G1 Hollywood Gold Cup against the boys on July 11, 2009. “Dusty is running so well,” explained Koch. “If we get a short field and a chance to become G1 stakes placed, we will probably take a shot.”

Dusty has also been nominated to the GII Beverly Hills Handicap the very next day on Sunday June 28, 2009. There is also an allowance race for her condition on July 11, 2009.

“The field in the BH will be a little softer,” Koch continued. “We are certainly going to be busy this week figuring out where to properly place her. Who knows, we may just run her in one of the stakes AND the allowance race!”
