Barry Abrams

Barry Abrams was born on March 4, 1954 in Minsk, Russia. He currently resides in Arcadia, California with his wife Dyan and his two daughters, Anne Marie and Natalie. He began working with standardbred horses in 1972 while attending business college at Cal State University in Los Angeles. He began training thoroughbreds in 1993. It only took just a few years before he won his first Grade 1 stakes victory with Famous Digger in the 1997 Del Mar Oaks. Abrams had plucked Famous Digger from a claiming race for $40,000 just seven months earlier and she was sold following her Del Mar Oaks triumph for seven figures. Abrams’ claim to fame has been his work with the progeny of California’s leading sire, Unusual Heat.
